Context
The country has not voted since 2016 and two dates already slipped in 2026 (30 August, 13 December). The CEP says the new calendar follows the 6 October electoral decree and the 19–23 October consultations with the security forces and parties; the GSF mandate expires on 31 March 2027, three months before the date.
